Leila is our symbol for a sustainable lifestyle. This means we explore ways to live, with a high standard but a low cost, to ourselves, our environment and our future generations. We produce our own vegetables, organically, we keep chickens for eggs and worms for soil enrichment. We live in a straw bale and cob house, we collect rain water from the roofs, we utilize the sun's energy for heating water and cooking, and we've planted indigenous trees so that we can be adjacent to a wild zone.

We are often guided by permaculture principles. This is how we live for our own comfort and then we also have projects that effect our broader community. For these we invite public participation. We have a diversity of integrated products and services: we produce delicious food in our two eateries, we provide country accommodation for a variety of purposes, we build earthen homes as well as teach you how to build your own, we design and facilitate processes for raising the general capacity of our communities (organizational development) and we provide information to visitors, local and foreign.
