solar-powered gyrocopter out of plumsteadSubmitted by turbosprout on Mon, 2008-06-30 11:01
Not only will the gyrocopter use a renewable energy source and not emit any pollutants, but Reddy is planning on creating jobs by building the machines in South Africa. He has already had international offers to buy his invention, but is not budging. Reddy, who is still studying towards his private pilots licence, was aware of the environmental damage caused by aviation and has spent three years and his life savings researching and developing a way to feed his passion for flying whilst conserving the environment. Despite not having a scientific or avionics design background he has managed to build a scale version of his gyrocopter to test the concept. "I realised it made scientific sense and I knew I had backed a winning bird. It was worth sacrificing my savings and lifestyle. But the real work begins now. With 95 percent of inventions not making it commercially, I have to make sure mine is among the 5 percent. Funding to take it to the next level is critical", says Reddy. More on iol |

Wishful thinking!!
What a load of bull..
The so-called "Super Sport" gyroplane shown in the article is actually the Sportcopter II manufactured by Sportcopter Inc, Oregon USA. In fact the pic used has been pinched from their website gallery!
A solar-powered gyroplane airborne in 8 months??
The only thing that will be taking to the skies within 8 months will be the money invested by anyone foolish enough to do so. far from getting ofthe ground, it's far more likely to disappear into thin air!
Real Gyroplane Pilot.
jai reddy gyrocopter
that is a stock pic chosen by this website. it is NOT the invention. hang in there, 8 months is not that far away.
7 months and still no sign of it.... what a surprise!
Well Mr Jai Reddy - how's that airborne prototype coming along? Should be in the air any day now right? Those gullible investors must be getting very excited. err Not!!
Stay focused mr Reddy
Hi Mr. Reddy, I want to encourage you to keep focused and stick with the program, even if takes another 2 years. I think you're one of a kind. Few South Africans are inventive and innovative and even fewer are patriotic.
Don't listen to the doomsayers. You're definately one of the people I look up to. I too am like you.
Keep pushing,
Stephanovich
Keep it up Mr. Reddy !
Only BIG OIL might curtail your invention, probably Mr. "Real Gyroplane Pilot." works for them!
But you keep it up, and you will succeed !
I'm designing a hydogen powered plane - lets talk!
Hey Reddy,
Please send me a mail / gimmi a call. I'd love to chat. I have a design for a hydrogen powered plane.
