Hottie – The world’s most travelled hot dog stand comes with a social and environmental conscience.Hottie – The world’s most travelled hot dog stand comes with a social and environmental conscience.Become a part of the World’s most travelled Hot Dog Stand and support kids of the Bushmen in South Africa. Dream, inspire and create positive social change to neglected children.

This Hot Dog stand is travelling around the world handing out a bite of Danish culture and hot dogs for free. Countries visited since 2003 include Denmark, Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, England, China, Japan and across the US. Next stop South Africa soccer World Cup 2010.

How does it work? The visitors get a hot dog for free and the opportunity to donate money to support our social cause. 100% of the money donated goes straight to the children. To date, around 20 000 hot dogs have been handed out and through tons of media coverage, many people and organizations have been touched by “Hottie” over the years.

Our primary focus is to create positive social change for neglected children. We do this by creating unique events that involve communities, associations, celebrities and decision makers from both Denmark and locally. Besides the money raised, the hot dog stand attracts media attention and generates awareness for the project.

What we do to take care of the environment? Like Denmark, the hot dog stand “Hottie” is at the forefront of sustainability. Initiatives includes: solar panels on the roof, diode lights, bike to generate power, we neutralize our carbon emissions from flights, we sponsor 50m2 of rainforest in Borneo and the owner website www.kontutto.com is carbon neutral. We are always working on new initiatives and would like to share our experiences with the people we meet along the way.

Who has Hottie met around the world? Danish prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen; the Danish Crown Princess Mary; orphanage in China; Danish national soccer players; soccer players and fans from the English premier league, the German bundesliga and the Italian series A; local people at a soup kitchen in Central Bronx, US; the King of Hollywood spa’s Ole Henriksen; actor Mads Mikkelsen; art enthusiasts in
Netherlands; politicians at the European Parliament in Brussels; Tour de France bikers from Team CSC and former Tour de France winner Bjarne Riis; Le Mans drivers such as Jan Magnussen; Japanese ministers and governors; the mayor in Shanghai; Chicago’s Olympic delegates at the IOC 2009; local people in Madrid and Barcelona biking to support the Climate meeting in Copenhagen 2009; challenged youth from Barcelona, Danish ambassadors and many more.

Social change 2010
Bushmen are hunter/gatherers and live in South Africa outside the Kalahari Desert. Modernization has posed a threat to their lifestyle and these changes have led to poverty. In some areas the national/local government has tried to make sure that the children have access to education however, due to many challenges these endeavours have not always been successful.

While remaining guardians of indigenous knowledge, the Bushmen also see education as a tool to equip their children with current knowledge/ contemporary information, so that generations to come may benefit from and enrich society.

Hottie wants to support the children by making sure they can attend school. Together with our local Hot Dog Agent Laura Lykkegaard Selander and Sally Hall, principal and founder of Montessori school -
www.auburnhouse.co.za – they are working on long term support. You can help too!
